KARE 11 did a piece on the mortality rate at Mille Lacs this year. It was kind of open ended, and really did not address much. But what they did show was these kids who collected over 400 dead fish, and lined them up along Hiway 169 in protest. It was not really clear to me if they were protesting… fishermen catching these fish, and that they were dying because of that(?), or the fact that there is such a tight slot limit, and they want that changed(?). They said in the piece that “We” have killed more fish by catch and release this year, than “We” were allowed to bring home. I still really don’t know what they were trying to do with the piece…But it sure was some good footage for the anti’s to use against us. They showed the long line of fish lined up along the highway, not good, regardless of how they ended up that way…

This is an example of sensationalism done by our media. Does KARE 11 really CARE? They show pictures that will stir public sentiment and do not really make a point as to why this was done. This was press that was not needed. Did they point out that many fish could have been tulibees that die in the summer anyway? No! You are right , they did not help the issue at all.

It could of been worse, they could of taken them to the casino and lined them up there.

Anyone else thinking a sarcastic, “Bravo!”? I gotsa question for you guys…………….

How is it that “KARE” 11 will do a story like this one, yet they fully support Ron Shara’s programming and practices? You suppose Ron saw the piece and had any words for his employer or co-workers?

I was taught in high school that good journalism is to present both sides of any story. I suppose, if you have no point to your story you could ignore this basic principle?!?!? Just sounds like shotty work to me.
