I’m going to be heading up to the big lake this coming weekend for the first time this year and only the second time in my life. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to start? I do a lot of reading about the lake (just because I’ll read anything to do with the outdoors!) and it sounds like the deeper mud on the west side has been doing the best lately during the daylight hours. I only have a 2002 Lund Explorer, so if the big winds start I’ll probably be screwed. I plan on fishing the morning hours (5-noon) all three days if I can. Any information will be appreciated! I’ve picked up a Hot Spots map, so hopefully I’ll recognize names of bars, etc.

I’ve had real good luck working the deep gravel by Sloppy Joe’s on the south end. I took 3 buddies with me on Friday and we landed almost 40 in half a day, including 4 slotters which is the most I’ve ever gotten. several were in the 24-26″ range and I pulled a 27.5″ out of that area the week before. All the fish came in 29-31′ depths and all we used were spinners with nightcrawlers, hammered silver and holographic spinners worked the best. I’m hoping to get back up there this Friday…
