Camper Crushed…..

Lucky I was at the EFN Get together on Saturday night or I’d likely be dead today. Another big storm hit the lake around 11pm Saturday and knocked a big tree over on my camper. Squashed it like a car tire running over a pop can. No one was hurt and we will be back soon.

The lake is higher than I have ever seen it right now. Most every dock I see is covered with water. All of the harbors, swamps, ditches are full of water. The ground is so saturated it don’t take much to blow a tree over. Lot of “Leaners” around too.

Sorry to hear that Jon, thank God nobody was hurt. Let me know if you would need a spot to crash. I still have a four bunk fish house up there that usually has vacancy.

Yikes! I was in a tent on the west side. I was fishing out on 8 mile and told my nephew to let me know if he saw lightning. When he saw the first flash, we started to head back. I scanned the horizon to see it myself and got a little worried when I finally did… It wasn’t on the horizon – it was at about a 45 degree angle up in the sky! I lowered the hammer and we beat the thing in time to get the boat out and everything put away.

Sorry to hear about the camper but happy to hear you weren’t in it!!

Maybe a used ice schack this time around…??? Think I will have a roll cage built around the sleeping quarters…just like a NASCAR Chevy!!

Ya things are worse than they were two weeks ago. The lake continues to go up. Check out the picture I have attached here to this post. It shows my boat on the lift in our boat harbor……The dock is also in the pic, but it’s under water. The lift is all the way up and I will need to put the boat on the trailer on dry land tommorrow? I think the lake is up around a total of around 12-14 inches?

My mother had around 18 inches of water in her basement when I got home from Red Wing Sunday. The sump pump is running non-stop for her. The roads in her neighborhood down by Liberty Beach are under water.

My wife Kathy said that the storm Saturday night was one of the worst she has been in here on Mille Lacs.

We need some dry days ahead here to dry up this area.

And yes Jon J. it was good that no one got hurt with your trailer. Lot’s of trees down like you said. They are blowing over in standing water.

If the Mille Lacs continues to rise, I’ll have to pull my dock out of the lake. As I can’t raise it any higher….

    Pray for dry days………

Glad to hear everyone is OK. My dad would likely kill for some of your moisture out in central SD. Drought has killed most of the crops this year. So in the future, push that rain south and west about 300 miles.

Jon, sorry to hear about the camper. A buddy of Big D and I has a 10 foot camper converted to a very nice fish house for free…All you have to do is haul it. Give me or the Dman a buzz, and I can put you in contact with him…

    Jon,

Sorry as well for your loss. What a terrible misfortune, thank god you decided to come to the Get-Together though instead of spending that weekend up there.

Hope everything works out for you? Can a guy put insurance on something like that?

    Glad you are OK!
Take Care, good to chat with you at the BB/BS event and put a face with a name!

    Holy @%&$!!!

So sometime last Saturday, as you and I walked around talking Mille Lacs Lake fishing strategy, your camper was being crushed by that tree?! WOW!~! Good to know you’re alright and that nobody was injured in the accident. Again, WOW. How diferent things could have been if you’d be up on the lake that weekend. Glad to know everyone is OK.

Life is just a big series of close calls….

As shocking as those pictures are, it just shows me, clear as a bright blue sky, that your time and purpose with the rest of us yaywhooos just isn’t over yet! Sad to see the loss of your pad, but we’re all thankful you’re still around!
