I caught a bunch of walleyes cranking on the north side sand last weekend. I have done a fair amount of pulling cranks on the west side in the fall but not this spring. If I were you, I’d pick a reef that doesn’t have as many slip bobbers on it (choose between Garrison reef, Sherman’s Point, Indian point, Brown, etc.) and try different cranks in different depths ’til you find what works best. If you pick a narrow reef like Indian Point and the top is loaded with slip bobbering boats, try pulling a deeper diver along the deeper depths on the outside. Sherman Point can be hit or miss but the chances of contending with other boats is much lower.
Give us a report if you get into some fish shallow over the rocks.
