I have been reading some posts about “skinny” fish on the big pond this year. I finally got out on Sunday to see for myself. In my opinion the fish did not look skinny. I decided to weigh one real quick before I put it back. It was 22.5″ long and weighed 3# 8oz. I have fished Mille Lacs Lake for the last 15 years and 22.5″ walleyes have weighed about the 3 and a half pounds the whole time. Once in a while you will get a “skinny” fish. By and large the fish we caught on Sunday seemed to be typical Mille Lacs Lake walleyes. Skinny fish have always been around, about ten years ago I caught a 29″ walleye that barely made 6 pounds. That was a skinny fish!
