Heading to Mille Lacs August 2nd – August 4th. We are staying at Chapman’s Resort & Guide Service in Isle, MN. Wife, daughters, and myself looking for some fishing action. Not looking for GPS coordinates. Just general areas to fish where the girls can hook on to some fish. Looking for 3-4 eating walleyes to clean and cook while we are there. Thanks in advance.

Take a look here and here .

Nothing much has changed over the past 6 weeks or so.

Tim is a great guy – great guide. If you spent even a 1/2 day in the boat with him, you would learn a ton. Either way, Tim will point you in the right direction when you check in. He is on the lake every day.

Probably one thing you want to be preparred to do is troll shad raps and stck baits in the evening. The moon will be filling out. Should be good for a few fish.

Charlie, I went up for my first time about a month ago and with the info I got here was able to have a great time and have a few fish dinners plus some bigger fish. our Best for numbers at that time was slip bobbers with leeches on Shermans Flat. Use a wide gap/circle hook for better hook up ratio. Have fun and let us know how you do. I forgot to say 5pm til dark.

It was tough bite for walleyes. We brought a pound of leeches to feed perch. So if you get into some big perch in the fall on the South East side of the lake, we fed them.

On a good note, we got into some smallies. The girls had a great time. Girls caught a 20″ and a 18″.

What did the gals think about throwing them back?

They were happy to release them. Kids thought the smallies were really ugly. My wife netted the fish and did not know what they were because she was used to catching Largemouth Bass on Prior Lake. They were caught using leeches on bobber.
