We took Cheryl’s new boat to the pond for a little break-in fishing trip. The very first fish in the boat was the 27″ that she caught and is holding in the picture. The next 3 walleyes were 22″, 23″, and 25″, all caught by the BOP. Next day, the start was 25″, 26″, and 23″, again caught by the BOP. There are pictures of all these fish, but she wouldn’t let me put them on here. Wind blown hair, I guess. I really got schooled on this trip. Too busy driving the boat although I came to life on the next day.
Fishing was a little tough at times when the lake was flat, but we caught enough fish to keep things interesting. Over a dozen fish in the 24-26″ range, some 22’s, but only 4 keepers. Good thing the perch took a liking to my bait so we could have a fish fry and bring a few walleyes home. For the first time, we were able to explore the various flats out in the middle of the lake. Didn’t dare go out there with the old boat. What a great bunch of structure! Now I know what we have been missing all these years. It was a learning experience as we went to East Flat, Fisher Flat, Poop Hump, Sherman’s, and some others that I don’t know the name. No real hot spot, just would pick up a couple here and there with rigs and leeches, and a few with bobbers. Now, we need to get up there more often to learn different techniques and spots.
