Headed up over the 4th. Where would I try and find some muskie? It’s a big lake any help would be great.

All the structure around Doe Island, Garrison Bay all the way over to past Myr Mar reef has a great very pronounced weedline. Sand around Malmo past Carlsona can be hit or miss while trolling. Shaboshkung/Indian Point/Vineland and the weedbed out in front of Eddy’s. Everyone I have talked to has said the fishing has been off. You can never go wrong if you find rocks with good cabbage around them. It is a huge lake, trolling can sometimes be the most effective way to cover it.

The water is still too cold for the muskies to be real aggressive. The warmest I saw was 70 degrees (mostly upper 60’s). I’ve seen a lot of neutral fish (let me stress “a lot”) but no hot ones. Until the water warms over 70 degrees, fish slow baits. I would assume that Mille Lacs will warm up considerably by the 4th. Read up online about some Joe Bucher spring tips. He’s the King in my book and I’ve learned a lot from reading his articles.

Well, was up there last Tuesday afternoon and evening. Weather held out (flat calm) on the south end until about 8, but we had some near misses with muskies and caught plenty 30 to 35″ northerns…fun getting the rod bent anyway. Find thicker cabbage, you’ll find fish (on Tuesday anyway).
