The bad news…I’ve got one of worst cases of wind burn I’ve ever had this morning and thought my contacts were going to fuse to my eyeballs yesterday. Must have really tough for anybody that dared to venture out much further to the south.

The good (great) news is that the catching yesterday was in my top five for the big pond as far as quantity and quality were concerned. We boated 38 eyes on the north end sand (between 18-20 feet) and didn’t even fish either of the prime times. Seemed like there were two primary size groups for our boat…14-17 inchers (about 3/4 of the catch), with the other class falling between 23-26 inches. For us, they showed a strong preference for crawlers on a plain hook with a couple of beads in front (red/glow or red/chartreuse combo), up through mid afternoon and turned over to leeches (same set up) after the one little squall passed and the sun started sliding off to the west. Saw lots of other fish caught today. Great day to be fishing and catching

I got back yesterday, as we all know the fishing was excellent almost too easy! My boat never left the sand in front of Fisher’s for the2 days we were there. All fish came on 6ft leader, colored hook and a leech, most in the 18-21ft range. I can’t wait to get back up there!

    Derek,

She was pretty bumpy (most waves in the two foot range), but manageable. Thank God for windsocks It was more the perstistence of the wind in your face that wore us down. The couple of times I’d say we saw three footers make a showing were when the wind shifted a bit more westward and the fetch increased. After that little squall went through late afternoon, she settled down significantly.

Thanks for the great reports guys!!!

I hope the fishing is half as good this weekend as it was last weekend which I had to sacrifice for my wife’s first Mother’s Day…

Ouch… I would just go buy one without telling her. Somehow twist it to make it like you bought it for her…

We where out on tuesday also. Didnt get out until the mid afternoon. Fished near the culvert on the north end. It was a little slow during the day. Would of liked to had run to some where else but didnt have that option. Towards the evening it picked up alot. Ended the day with a few bigger throw back fish and 2 limits of keepers. Leachs to all the fish. I ran a hook with a bead on a long snell. My buddy ran a gaudy looking large spinner on about 2 feet of snell. The both took fish if that tells you anything.
