i know that one would have to be sick in the head to already be thinking about next fall on mille lacs seeing as it’s only january but i have a question.
a bunch of people talked about a shift from HJ’s to Rogues just after the October moon and i was wondering if those were suspending rogues or not? it didn’t sound like anyone made any differentiation when they were talking about all the fish they were taking on rogues and i am in the process of restocking for next year and wondering if it really makes a difference. any thoughts would be great!

I was using the suspending Rogues, but I was having better luck on Bomber baits later on.
I can’t blame you for already thinking of next fall. I am doing the same thing.

I remember comments about suspending super rogues. Yes it is not too early to be thinking about, but DON’T lose any sleep yet, save that for Oct. Jack..

Suspending rouges are right. I used alot of there longer ones last fall. Think they where around 5 3/4″. I would think that when you are lookiing at new lures to use try to match the depths they run and action (suspending). Towards the end of last fall I was start to eye up some of the bomber stick baits also. Looked like they might give a person more colors to choose from.

Gander clearance bins is a good place to look for rouges and bombers in the spring.

Suspending super rouges I believe where the ones we used alot.

From just before the full moon of Oct to the 14th of Nov. all my fish came off the Smithwick (Discontinued) ASDRC Model 5 1/2 ” 1/2OZ. “suspending” – The best “wobble” in the stick bait business. Total #’s this fall on Mille Lacs 668 fish in 37 days. Since they are tough (that size) to find – go to Lurenet.com – and buy the bone color (no paint job) there like 1.89 a piece – I send them to a guy in N.C. who’s custom paints them for me 40 at a time. or paint your own !!

I think most guys like a suspending bait on the lake, they do work well, but when the fish are snaping they will hit a HJ, tstick, zuri, bomber or Original or anything else that moves just as well. When walleye really decide to feed they are a pretty agressive preditor and will snap at almost anything that moves.

I fish Rogues a lot in the fall. They are a robust bait, and hold up very well! But the hooks absolutely suck! I have been changing them out quite often. I very rarely get more than a night of fishing out of them. A night of really good fishing that is.
