Holy smokes, I haven’t been on Mille Lacs in a long time, it’s obvious all those little perch are growing up! I think I’m gonna have to give the so-called “dead sea” another try one of these days! Thanks for the post, those are some dang nice perch

    where have you been?
I haven’t seen a single poor report from Mille Lacs since i joined this site. It certainly doesn’t look like its a “dead sea” to me!

Mille Lacs is a body of water that really sees fluctuations in the bite. One year harvests will be incredible…. the next much lower. You are correct though…. the fishing has been excellent for the past couple years.

Hey Cade, instead of insulting someone you don’t know go back and re-read my post The first sentence says I haven’t been there in a long time, I then go on to say “So-Called Dead Sea”. I think you took my message out of context If I’m the first person to ever make reference to Mille Lacs being the dead sea (past or present) then please forgive me, I was out of line.

Anyway, back to the heart of the matter…..I STILL say those are good lookin’ perch

Those are some dandy perch. Way to go!!!
Each time this winter on mille lacs I have gotten a few of those rare sumo’s over 13″. Had one this weekend that weighed 1.4lbs. Doesn’t seem like a lot but man those fish are huge. Key to catching those fish… stay mobile.. once those little perch move into your area they scare the bigger fish out.. sometimes you have to move a couple hundred yards and drill a hole away from any structure and you will be amazed when your flasher lights up. Nothing better when lowering your jig down and those sumos race up 6-7 feet off the bottom and slam your jig before it hits the bottom. .

Sorry, i wasn’t insulting you though. I simply said that i don’t see how it can be considered the dead sea with the results i have seen come out of there. Thats all man.

You see, as IMO, my opinion should be just as valid as yours, and my opinion is that i have never seen Mille Lacs lake to be a dead sea or otherwise un-productive. I haven’t been around forever but this is what i have observed. Your opinion is 100% valid as well, and thats fine, i was just stating my opinion as well. I don’t really see how that could be taken as an insult, but again, this is an opinion of yours.

No forgiveness needed! I’ve referred to ML as the Dead Sea a few times myself, along with many others I’ve fished with. Hopefully that’s not the case when I’m on it this week, though.
