Decided to go up to Mile Lacs Saturday evening with Bobber Al and another friend and pull some cranks again – Wow, what a night!! The fish were hitting extremely hard and so were the waves!! We pondered even putting the boat in the water at 6:00 because the rain, lightning and waves were all looking very “Un-inviting”!! Around 7:00 the lightning disappeared and the rain slowed so off we went! We ended up with one other boat joining us on the water, everyone else was gone!! We started out getting a fat 23″ and they only got bigger from there! We fished until 11:00 and ended up with 1-23″, a mess of twins around the 24″ mark, 5-25″er’s, 3 right at the 27″ mark and Dan got the biggest at just under 30″. Due to the heavy, soaking rains that came down for the majority of the evening we didn’t want to test the water proof qualities of any of our cameras so I don’t have any nice photos to show anybody ! I am figuring this could possibly be my last outing on the water with the forecasted weather anyway but we will see! It wasn’t the most enjoyable trip at all, even with the great fish we caught, because everything we had on seemed to find a way of getting wet through some crack or crevice!! Oh well, I could have stayed home I guess, and maybe watched, wait, we are fishermen, we can handle any (most) weather conditions…..right??
Hey, it has been a great open water season, and if it is done for sure, I have no complaints on the success I have had this summer!!
I wish everyone a successfull ice fishing season and I hope to see some of you out this winter!
See Ya Later !
