Haven’t any of you guys discovered the daytime bite?

    Its out there!!!

    Here are a couple hints.

1.) Fish the way the “Griz” made famous.

2.) Fish the same place that had the hottest bite this spring.

3.) There’s gold at the end of a “rainbow”.

Are you saying do a little rip-jigging on the shallow south end rocks?

No no Jon, He is telling you to put some bacon grease on those crawlers and drag them around with a gold spinner using lead core

    Jon,

Your half right, but still far from the bite.

If you are going to fish like the “Griz”, don’t you need a half pouch of chew in your mouth????

Let me try: A jig with a rainbow on the Northeast corner of the lake.

Has anyone over thought about trying some rip jigging in the same areas you pull cranks?

    We have a winner!!!

Rip jigging rainbows on the sand out from Fishers! The sand rock transition areas south by the rock piles seem to do a little better. Keep your boat moving about .8mph and don’t worry about keeping the jig tight to the bottom. 2-4 feet up and the fish are smacking it.

If you can still find leeches, they have been producing well on long snells in the same area. South of fishers about a mile and then out in 15 feet on the first break. The bigger the leech the better.. You can really make a haul this time of year during the day..

What are the best jigs to use? I assume the ones that Griz sells in the stores in 3/8?

Those would probably work, but all I used was round head Northland jigs. Either 1/4 or 3/8 oz. Run the hook down their mouth so it comes up thru the back of their head. I used a green or orange jig, and my friend has been using a gold Fireball and doing good. I’m going to try to get up this weekend and if I do, I’m going to experiment with feather, hair, and maribou jigs to see if they make any difference.

No, she’s pretty much shut down.

You might still get a couple trolling at night around 3 mile, big point, hunters point, hennipen and hawk bill, but the day bite is pretty much done. The perch are going in 8-12 ft of water in Isle bay and twin bay though.

Thanks Jack, might give it try anyway before putting the boat away. See you on the MTT next summer.
