Put in at the Casino launch on Friday night at 5:30. Mike W and I decided we were going to keep moving until we found the big girls. Needless to say, we didn’t find many. On our third spot, many miles from the launch, we boated our first decent fish, a 27″ fatty.

We would get a fish or two every so often, but we couldn’t seem to put much of a pattern together. Finally as we hit a rock point on the west side things started materialize. No monsters, but a consistent bite none the less. He Orange Craw rogue was the hot ticket this night. Mike was slaying the fish, while I couldn’t buy a bite. Needless to say, I make a great net boy. Mike got a 26 and 25 for his big fish with a couple over the 22″ mark to fill the gap.

About 4:30 we decided we had enough and headed back to the landing. Loaded the boat only to find a flat on the trailer. Thanks for helping me change the tire before sending me on my way home Mike!!! It was a long ride home, foggy and my eyes were heavy. Luckily just north of elk river I ran out of the fog and the sun came up so the rest of the ride was pretty good.

It was a little spooky running out there even though I knew there weren’t many others on the lake. It was simply darker than the inside of a cow!! The weather was beautiful all night long. Thanks for tagging along Mike. Maybe we can squeeze one more trip in before ice up???

We worked 7-11 feet of water all night, both the inside and outside weed lines. The biggest fish came on the black/white Xrap and most of the rest of the fish that night came on the orange craw rogue.

Thanks for the trip Jon. It was a good night of fishing. The numbers where a little off from what I would of liked to have seen but we did get into a few decent fish. It was early in the morning when we did start to get on a pattern of fish but by that time it was getting a little tough to concentrate on them. Wish I could of got back to that spot of saturday night but the wind dictated other wise. Maybe next time.
Early november, mild temps and trolling walleyes. Just cant beat it.

What was the speed that took the most fish?

Almost stopped dead in the water. One time I’m untangling the line from the rod tip and a fish came up and whacked the lure. We were using very sharp S turns to get the lures to almost completely stop.

How ironic was it that I threw out that comment on you letting the air out of my tires and then YOU get a flat? Amazing? I didn’t notice your rig… did you park near all that broken glass? That broken glass was there when I was up on the 21st. I launched out of that ramp a few years ago for opener (midnight) and had a flat trailer tire when we got back. In that case, there was a nice BOLT sticking out of the tire. With the bolt in there it created a slow leak. I didn’t have a spare at the time so we filled it up with air twice and ended up getting the tire fixed in Brainerd.

We launched about 7:30 Friday night and we pulled out around 1:30 AM. I was looking for you out there but it really was hard to see much of anything considering how dark it was. For all I know, we probably nearly ran into each other.

I did enjoy the beautiful weather. That made it extra fun.

My truck was sitting on the south side of the docks by the brown pickup. I didn’t take time to look for any debris in the tire, but I’m sure there is something in it.

We only fish the casino bay for two passes, one shallow, then one deep. There were only 2-3 boats in there then. We then headed to indian for two passes, ot a sniff so we make the long run all the way to the north end. We slowly worked our way back throughout the night. It was 4:30ish when we got back to the landing.
