I’m wondering if any of you guys trolling the pond are using any boards. If you are, are you seeing any difference in the numbers of fish (strikes) coming from boards verus straightlines?

I saw one guy trying it in Sha Bush two weekends ago. I’m guessing all he caught were a ton of weeds in there.

I don’t know how anyone could/would use boards when fishing the areas I have been. Way too many weeds to foul the lures and not be able to tell. Even the rock areas have some weeds that mess you up occasionally.

I see a few people using them but I dont see them getting more fish usually less fish. They can be a pain in the to run at night and you have some down time setting up or like Kooty said picking up weeds. Also I would rather feel the fish hit the crankbait it doesnt get any better than that.

I have seen a boat or two pulling boards each time I have been to Mille Lacs this fall.

I see so much rookie boating out there on the big pond, with decent numbers of boats, I personally wouldn’t pull boards in the locations I have been fishing. I have a hard enough time avoiding the jittery, weaving fleet with no boards out.

I do use boards at night all the time on Woman Lake. Some nights they outproduce regular lines by quite a bit, but other nights, they don’t seem to offer any advantage at all. I usually use them if I am fishing three guys and always use them if I am fishing four. I hate tangled lines when trolling cranks.

I didn’t use boards this year. In past years I have. Usually when I have 3 or more people in my boat. I drilled a hole into the top of the board near the flag and insert a glow stick. Works great.

I can guarantee you if Minnesota allowed 2 lines per angler, you would see just about everyone pulling boards on Milly!

Minnesotans don’t need 2 lines to catch a limit!!
