Hit the pond one more time last night. My neighbor and I drove up for a few hours of fishing. Dave had a babysitter at home so we could only fish until 1:30ish.

We hit the water at by 8 and started out in the same areas we had pulled fish the previous weekend. However no luck. Dave tried a firetiger rouge, me a dark, more natural presentation. Nothing. We switched baits a few times then moved on to spot #2. Again nothing but a lot of boat traffic. We quickly moved on to spot #3, two 12″ fish for Dave. On to spot #4, finally something worthy of the net. Dave got a couple 24″ fish while I was still smelling up the boat. Finally the gods allowed me a small eater, 17″. After Dave pulled another 22″ fish I switched to the firetiger rogue. I pulled that thing around for a way too long without a bite. I then switched to a gold/white pattern of rogue and got a beauty of an eater, 20″. Dave finished up the night with another eater and 25″ pike.

By now it was time for a very bouncy ride back to the landing. Oh ya, someone thank the weatherman, he nailed the forecast last night. N-NW winds 6-8 mph for Garrison. NOT!!! Didn’t matter we fished anyway!!

It’s been a great fall on the pond and I’m already planning vacation for next year!! See you all on P4 the next two months!!

Ya John, I braved the wind and cold on the eastside! I lasted about one hour and zero fish……..It is to easy for me to bail out and hit the couch in front of the fire place! there will be better nights ahead this week.

I noticed one thing that was kind of weird! the water temperature was 50 deg’s out on the outside reef…1/4 mile off shore. And it was 48 deg’s up close to the rocks on shore?

I was the passenger last night, so I didn’t pay that close attention to the graph. I never did see the what temps were on the west side.

Bob, there are no fish on the east side!

Kooty, Thursday night Holst and I lauged because the weatherman predicted winds from the north at 0. It blew from the east at 25! All night long!!!

Since the wind decided to blow the wife daughter and I headed for Garrison. Managed 2 23″ off of Pikes point and a couple eaters and one slimmer about 34″.
Sat night we worked off of Red Door and managed 5 nice eaters by the time it rained and got everything damp…including us.

I brought my bro-in-law up for Friday night/Saturday early AM trolling. We got off to a bad start, as it took me nearly an hour to get through Rogers on the way up. When you hold a printed Holst fishing report in one hand and a steering wheel in the other hand, that is a very frustrating hour, let me tell you.

We ended up boating 18. The keeper and smaller fish were spread throughout the evening, but most of the larger fish were concentrated in a half hour period right before we headed in. That was fun!

We ended up with 6 in the livewell (all 15″-17″), a couple that were sub 14″ throw backers, a couple more just above 22″, and the rest were between 24.5″ and 26.5″. Very fat fish. I’ve got pictures of 4 of the bigger ones and we ended up skipping pictures on the last few because we wanted to keep cashing in on the flurry. That was smart because it ended as soon as it began. We were just in the right place at the right time for that.

Water temp was right around 51-52 degrees.

For us, we ran a rogue and a #12 husky jerk in glass/perch and eventually the HJ started outproducing at a pace strong enough to go with two of them. We just couldn’t break the 27″ barrier. All but one of the 24″+ came on HJ.

I had been up one week earlier and had similar numbers but more in the keeper range and less in the larger range. Both trips, I spent most of my time between 1.3 and 1.5 mph. A week ago, the majority of my fish came over weeds, this time the majority came over rocks.
