I was up last night and started fishing the NW by Garrison and worked my way back to South of Big Point. There were fish biting in every spot we stopped at,some better than others.Trolling shallow water 7-9 feet with a HJ12 or a rattlin rouge 80 feet back has been consistantly putting fish in the boat for me this year.Give this a try and you will like the results

I would have to agree with you castaway!! I also fished last night with swamptrout from the site! We ended up with 21 fish total for the night, 28″ 26″ and a handful of 23-25″ fish! We also caught a limit of good eaters for a fish fry! Like castaway stated the fish are everywhere!!! I found a new pod of fish that were also hitting hard and often! Stay on the move and you will be rewarded with agressive and healthy fish!!
Good luck to all still fishing! If you see me say hi as well!!!

Gotta agree with the guys here. A hot dog on a hook will work this fall. The bite is just that consistent. No special skill or knowledge required, if you make it out you will catch plenty of fish. I even saw a few ranger guys catching fish so you know the bite had to be good!

A simple question to all regarding trolling methods.

Are you running an electric trolling motor this shallow?
Are you running a kicker motor?
Are you running your main motor?

I have seen all three this fall, it depends on what speed you can get with your motor. As long as you are in the correct speed range 1.4-1.7mph and can handle and waves with whatever motor your running, you should be fine!!!
    Good luck!

The key is to paddle vigorisouly! Actually right not it doesn’t matter much. It is pretty much drop a line catch a fish.

It hasnt made much difference what motor you run but I like to run the kicker whenever I can.You can use an electric but I never use one this time of year.Keeping the speed down has also helped with all those short biters this year.Another thing to try is take your motor out of gear sometimes and let the boat come to a stop then kick it back in gear.I have picked up a lot of fish this way.I caught one at a dead stop talking to Ranger 29 the other night but I usually catch one every time he comes by

Id like to know how you attach the treble hooks to the hot dogs and how deep do they run.I might have to give this a try.

Sunday night my bro in law had his first ML Oct walleye. Up until then he was doing great work w/ the net. He broke his personal record. Fattest walleye I’ve ever seen! It was all tangled in the rubber trampoline net I use for night cranks. I had 4 real nice ones in the box & this big girl needed a rest while we got his camera out & he showed me out to use it. So….I broke the law and dropped her (25 1/2″) in with the slotters. BANG!! CRASH!! BOOM!!! it sounded like a street fight out in front of the old Wahkon GoGo. Got the camera ready, took the shot, and had a very strong fish back in the lake. This has taken 10 min or so. Just get the lines in & back on the structure when he nails his 1st ‘ski. A nice 36″ er. The Super Rogue (“crumpled tinfoil” finish) took a real beating when I had to go to the nylon trolling net. Got her out, photoed and back in the water much faster. I’m giving him that Rogue, bent hooks and all.
BTW.. He & my wifes sister were looking at a place on ML that failed a pre-purchase inspection due to mold. They are just going to buy something else now. He has been made a believer. Any one need a lot w/ lake access on Boy Bay of Leech?

    I ran a 75 E-TEC with a drift sock for a week straight at 1.4 MPH. It thought it was a T-8!
