What can you say, big fish, mild temps and for the most part calm seas. I can’t add much to what James put into his latest report, but I’ll try to. I have to second what James said about “events” at the Hukreide compound. Every time I’m privledged enough to spend more time there, the more I fall in love with the lake and country. I can’t wait to get moved closer!!

I personally started out fishing Friday night with Wade(from Jolly Ann) and Mike (Suzuki). So I’ve got a Michigan guy, an Iowan and a South Dakotan in the boat. What a combination!! Our night started off slow, however we finished out on the rocks in some pretty healthy waves and got some big fish. Our last 5 passes yielded a 27, 26, 26 and a tagged 22. With a couple flippers(you know the ones that don’t require a net). Thanks for joining me that night guys. The laughs were great!!!

Saturday night I didn’t have a partner, but somehow In-depth came through for me. I met a another single at the Red Door(which is an awesome place to stay). Jerry R. Jerry and I decided to fish some new to me areas so we focused on Knox point, Myr Mar reef and the Garrison break. Jerry was the hot stick early on. He boated a 26 and a 24 with numerous eaters. I was struggling to get a big fish until late when I got sumo 28″ fish. Unfortunately I didn’t have a digital camera along so I have to get my pics emailed from friends. Our best bait this night was firetiger husky jerk. I did get the big girl on the black/gold HJ #12.

Sunday night found me in another buddies new boat. WOW are the Ranger Reatta’s awesome. This was by far our worst night for size and numbers and we were forced off the lake at 1:00 AM due to huge thunderstorm in the area. This did allow me to BS with a bunch of great guys from Iowa back at the Door. It was great to meet you Tim and Mike!!!

Monday night was my last day on the lake. My boat included the infamous Dman and Bigfife. Dan is a great guy who is diligently working his way through college. He got a nice 22.25 tagged fish start the night. However D wasn’t going to let the young bask in his glory too long. I looked at D’s rod and says, “you got one D?” He goes I think it’s a good one. I could tell it certainly was because his rod was bent in half!! As the monster neared the boat I got the light and Dan the net. We all could see it was huge and anyone that has ever netted big fish knows the pressure one feels at this moment. With one swift move, the 29″ fish was in the net and high fives all around. This is D’s biggest to date and it was my honor to be there. Awesome fish buddy!!!

One last note, it was great to meet everyone I did and I can’t wait til we fish together again. A special thanks to Dman for putting me up one night and Hooks for hosting us on Saturday for the game!!! You guys are a class act!

We also owe a special thanks to Hunter’s Point resort for allowing us to come tell some lies and drink a few beers! If you get a chance to support a resort on the east side, please consider George and his staff. They are top notch like most of the folks I’ve met up north!

When I get the rest of the pics collected from various sources I’ll get them posted.

Kooty, thanks for the plug on the great net job. Just like my shooting, my netting can be very poor at times. That fish came up with only one hook in its mouth and I knew I was only going to get one swipe at it. I had a blast out on the lake that night. Numbers don’t really matter when you can boat a monster like Ds. Koonce, thanks for the brats out on the lake.

Just got a voicemail from my buddy who fished out of Garrison last night. He said they absolutley slammed the walleyes last night and also caught a 40 inch 20 # plus pike.

That was fun. But it’s good to be home for some needed rest.
Here is a picture of the 29 I caught while fishing with Kotty, the big fish only guide. Thanks Kooty for the seat and nice meeting you Bigfife.

Dman, it was good to meet you too. I love the picture of that monster going back in the lake to fight another day.

Bigfife, you and Dman know that you are neighbors upnorth right?

Yeah, but I am not sure exactly where Dman’s place is. Where is the famous Hook cabin? That must be close also.
