does anyone have a chart for #18 floaters?

my trolling book doesn’t have it. and I lost 3 of them $8 lures this weekend

I ended up going 50-60′ back I am guessing I was 5-7′ down??

    any help would be great!

    8′ = 52′
    9′ = 65′
    10′ = 82′
    11′ = 107′

Maxed out at 11′. Remember this is for 10lb mono also.

Kooty, at what speed? Slowing a floater will allow further distance per foot deep, right?

I’ll have to read the exact speed theory the bible is based on. I can’t remember the speed and how slowing or speeding up affects the lures. I do agree with your intial thought though.

    It’s based on 2.5 MPH.

At least up by Knox point it is???

I heard that the “trolling bible” says with mono, depths won’t vary if you are over 1 mph.

That was my understanding as well. But I’ve been wrong twice before!!

There is a point where speed increase causes the crankbait to rise (i.e. you are trolling @ 2.5 mph and the depth becomes shallower that expected……you speed up to 4+ to cause the cranks to raise, thus not digging into the bottom).
