Headed up to Mille Lacs on Sunday with two fishing buddies, some bait and some beer. Got on the lake around 3:00 PM and headed for the southeastern tip of 8-Mile. So what didn’t work you ask? After graphing a lot fish on & just off the deep edges we tried…..
1. Minnow and lindy
2. Leech and lindy
3. Crawler and lindy (see next)
4. Catching a small walleye on a crawler and lindy and having your buddies throw out a buoy before you can tell them its a bad idea. (see the following two)
5. Other boat cruising in on the buoy with the speed and persistance of pepe’ le pew. I really thought they were going to pick it up and return it to us.
6. Me snagging the buoy line. (gosh that feels like a nice fish)
7. Switching to a faster presentations with a bottom bouncer spinner/leech
8. Bottom bouncer spinner/crawler.
9. Three way perch #11
10. Three way emerald shad #7
11. Moving to several desolate gravel bars. I think I saw a submerged tumbleweed blow across the graph.
12. Anchors trying to hold firm on a rock reef.
13. Bobber fishing with a glow jig/leech.
14. Bobber fishing with a plain hook/leech and your name is Rob.
15. Leaving the truck door open at the landing while getting the boat tidied up.
The beer tasted good and it was still a lot of fun.
