I made a last minute trip to Mille Lacs yesterday. After playing around with my GPS and fighting waves all day, I decided to fish muskies as long as I was on Mille Lacs. I was on the south end, out of Isle and decided to go to the north end quick before I ran out of daylight…and weather.
When I got to Wealthwood, people were coming off the water because of the incoming weather……My favorite time to fish muskies (maybe not the smartest time, but great time nonetheless). Anyway, after I remembered to put the plug in the boat…(after my life jacket was floating)….I was off to my spot. With the bilge pump still going, I was only on my third cast, with a top water bait, made by a buddy in Red Wing, when she hit! Since I was by myself, I really didn’t want to net the fish, cuz I knew I wouldn’t get any good pics…and if she got off, oh well. So I took my time with her and got the camera out of the case while she was in the water…snapped a few pics then grabbed her and got a measurement and back she went. 47 1/2 inches. Pics didn’t turn out the best, but it made the trip worthwhile.
