Did anyone try the pond this weekend, before or after the system/front? Are the fish still biting/did anyone have any luck?

Fished Thursday night by myself and caught 5 on deep diving cranks/planer boards (16,21,24,25 & 27 inches). Not bad considering I only had one line out. Deep Tail Dancer.
Fished Friday afternoon until dark and caught 9 (22-27 inches) on Deep Tail Dancers and Deep Thundersticks. Lost 4 others.
Fished Sat. morning for only a couple of hours and caught 3 (23-24 inches) and lost one other. Same method as above.
July 25, 2005 at 4:43 pm #374682Grifter, good job . Sounds like you had a blast. We were out Friday, Saturday and Sunday also. Had to fight that wind on Saturday during Macs couple tourney . We caught 4-5 fish each time out pulling deep tail dancers. We also spent a lot of time rigging with crawlers. One presentation did not seem to be better than the other, but the big boys are fun on the deep cranks. Overall, not a bad weekend, but nothing like the last 2 for us.
July 25, 2005 at 7:43 pm #374706I was up on the pond since last Wednesday doing some prefishing for the couples tournament and covered a lot of water and burnt up a lot of gas.The most consistant bite I found for good slot fish 14-22 was still out on the mud working the top and edges with lindy rigs with 9-10 leaders and leaches.Although I didnt fish the mud in the evening the bite was good right in the middle of the day even with bright sun and a calm lake. The shallow rock are still holding fish as the crayfish are thick on them but these tend to be smaller fish with an occasional keeper mixed in but not a bad option if you want to do some slip bobbering in the evening without the long boat ride. There were also some fish on the gravel but these fish seemed to be scattered at least where I was and you had to cover a lot of ground between fish.Saturday my plan was to make a 12 mile run to the mud and when I got up in the morning and looked to the east and seen red and said to myself red in the morning sailors take warning I should have went to plan B.Well the bite was just to good out there and the weather didnt look all that bad at the time so we stuck with plan A.When we arrived at my spot I had high hopes as the fish were still there and there wernt many boats around. We caught a couple short fish and missed a few right away as the fish have been real aggressive biters out there and it is hard to tell weather to set the hook right away or feed them some line.Just as things were looking good the weather started to change for the worse and what started out as fishing a tournament seemed more like just surviving the tournament. It is probably not a good sign when you are out in the middle of the lake and the movie the perfect storm comes into the conversation.Well I asked the wife what she wanted to do head for shore or keep fishing and she says well where fishing a tournament I suppose we should keep fishing. So I dug out more lead just to try to get to the bottom and although the fish continued to bite we were just moving to fast to keep any on.We did end up boating a few more short fish and one 21 incher that was just shy of 3 pounds and one 26 incher that I drug behind the boat for about a mile before we got it into the net.Well we didnt make it into the money but after a 1 1/2 hour boat ride back it was just nice to be on land.We didnt fish on Sunday as we had enough by then but it looks to me like the bite is still going good and should be great this fall.Hats off to Macs Twin Bay for putting on a great tournament wich seems to get better every year.
July 25, 2005 at 9:23 pm #374716Went up and fished sunday morning with some success. Found the best luck on or around the Boot. Lots of smaller fish vs. the last few weeks.
jldiiPosts: 2294July 26, 2005 at 2:44 am #374798I had 3 guys out on Friday for an all day trip. Came in with 16 slots all between 18.5″ and 21.75″. All the fish came on slip bobbers and leeches in shallow water. Deepest we fished was 10′! Caught alot of smaller fish that day also. We threw back something like 37 fish that day, with all but a few being too small. Biggest that day was 24.5″. Saturday started out good for my wife and I at the Mac’s Couples Tourney. We had 2 x 22″, a 23 and a 24″ and a 18.5 in the first hour, then the wind shifted and it got REAL tough till about 1PM when the little ones started to go again. Ended up 14th in the tourney this year, .5lbs out of the money. Too bad, we had taken a check out of that tourney every year since 1995, winning it twice. Oh well!!
Here is a picture of a nice one I pulled last Monday when we had that big N.W. wind all day.
By the way, bobbers DO catch fish, and big ones too!!
