After all of the reports I have read and all of the tips I have pick up over the last couple of weeks I felt like I owed everybody a quick report.
My brother-in-law and I took our wives with us this past weekend to experience the good fishing we have been talking / bragging about this spring / summer. Based on all of the reports we headed straight out to the flats on Friday evening for the nite bite. As we tend to favor spots where we have done well in the past we headed out of Agate Bay to, the Blue Jug. We “bobbered Up” on the North East corner where it breaks from 24 – 31 fow. From 8:30 to 10:30 we caught 5 fish over 24″ including my wife’s largest fish of her life at 26 1/2″. We also caught 3 other 14″ers. All of a sudden about 10:30 the mayflies hit. They came out pretty thick and that was enough for the wives. I have found that everytime you leave the camera in the truck, you do pretty good.
Saturday morning just the boys went out about 7:00 and had no luck to speak of until the girls were ready for breakfast about 10:30. I would reccomend the french toast @ Hunter’s to anybody and everybody!!!
After breakfast we headed back out to the jug. We picked up 5 fish over 22″ in about 2 hours with the biggest being 25 1/2″. Slip bobbering was again our weapon of choice.
After dinner it was just the boys again, back out to our “hot spot”. We pick up a couple of slot fish and a 24 1/2″. The action was a bit slower.
Sunday morning we were greeted with a pretty stiff breeze and we didn’t feel like beating our selves up on the ride out to the flats. We instead anchored up off the Agate Reef. In an hour and a half we pulled out 4- slot fish and decided to all it a weekend after my wife was starting to turn a little green.
