Not a big bass man, but I have heard that they are doing pretty good there. 20-30 fish a day for the guys that know what they are doing is pretty common I think.

    Chriss,

Was up at the pond today. At 7:30 am Temp was 61.4 on Indian point and Rainbow Island. First cast first fish was a 5lbser. Sorry forgot the digital so no pictures. My buddy and I proceeded to catch 3 more off the point (topwater and spinnerbait). Tried 4 other spots before we connected again. This time with 3/32 oz mushroom head jig and a clear halo fleck Kalin grub. 3.5lbs. Next 4 fish were almost all the same thing. All by bigger boulders but shallow water in Wakon bay. All on the south side of the islands. Water temp by then (1pm) was 66.5. stayed there for an hour then went to the rocks outside cove. water temp was 64. No fish then had to leave. If I were you I’d start at Indian point first then head straight to Wakon. Unless you know other spots. We saw alot of fish in Wakon. The reeds are not fully up yet so those weren’t good. Didn’t have time to try other spots. Seems like the shallow water rocks/boulders were the best. 2 feet and less. Good Luck!

Chriss, I’m taking the lunker up to mille lacs for her maiden voyage to the big pond on saturday. Gonna try for bass on the southwest end of the lake and maybe for walleyes a little in the morning. Will be in a black/grey lunker with a 40hp merc. Hoping to find some productive spots. See ya out there.

Thanks to every one! Sounds like thing are starting to pick up out there. I will keep an eye out for you “fish them all”. If I don’t see you. Give em hell! Sounds like it shopuldn’t be a complete rain out!

I will hopefully put my buddy on his first smallie this weekend. It will be fun to see his reaction.

Thanks to a little coercing from the wife I headed up to the pond on sunday instead of saturday. I fished from rocky reef to St albans bay hitting points, rocky shorelines and pencil reeds looking for fish. Started at 6:30 am. The first fish I caught was on indian point using the gold k grub, thanks Bobber. The wind was blowing into the point pretty good so I had trouble fishing this area effectively. In vineland bay I caught one on a spinnerbait along with an 11″ perch. The next fish was not caught until the afternoon using a firecracker ringworm. This caught 4 fish total. I did miss a few other fish on the spinnerbait too. The largest fish I caught was 15″ long, but they are some stocky fish. Next time I’ll probably hit the southeast part of the lake, I didn’t fish there mainly because of the tournament on sunday. Also, tried for walleyes a bit with no luck, but I did see one good sized fish caught on the gravel in vineland bay in the morning. Chriss, did you find some good fish?

I was also out on Sunday. I was on the water by 7Am launching out of Isle and then went to “mock” fish the tournament in my favorite Largemouth spot. As it turned out there were a bunch of boats in MY largemouth area and so I kind of took it easy not wanting to mess the other people up too badly, plus the fishing was kind of tough as it is was. I ended up catching a 25.5″ Dogfish and failed to get a couple of others to bite. As far as Largemouth I got a nice pregnant 17″ and huge pregnant 18+” fish that might have even gone 4lbs and I also missed a few fish. I think I saw the guys who caught the Tournies Big Bass as well right after they caught it when they were high fiveing.
I then went to the weigh in at Macs.

After the weigh in I fished the Twin Bay area for Smallies. It had really calmed down and my first one, a chunky 17″, hit my jerkbait that had become fowled right on the surface. I took the hint and busted out the topwater and caught a total of 8 missing about 4 blow ups and seeing several fish that wouldn’t hit. My three biggest were all over 4lbs and the biggest, a 19.75″, may have been over 5lbs.

For the most part the fish were not killing it, but just taking it nice and solid to even a bit lightly. In one spot I know I was on a big school of fish cause I could see them but it took a lot of patience between hits and it worked best when I left that area and then came back after I’d gotten a hit.

I fished for about 5-6 hours on Sat. Maybe it was swimming with a bait caster! The dog was soaked and the bilge pumps got a work out!

We did find some fish though. We soent most of the time covering ground with jerk baits ans lipless cranks. When we found schools we would slow things down. I was pitching a pumpkin tube and my partner was working a 4inch Kalins grub! We boated 25 to 30 fish! Nothing over 15inches.
    WE COVER ALOT OF WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!

My girl freinds brother was with me for the outing. He had never caught a Smallie. I can still see the smile on his face!

Our best luck this past week came off slowly worked baits. Tubes & senkos were best. Not a lot of fish, but a lot of nice sized fish. Our biggest was 19.5″ and we had quite a few of those.

We fished the east side starting around noon. (had to try for a few walleyes) and the fishing was great we threw tubes and senkos. at around three we went to the south end (the waves were kicking my ) thats when we really got into them with tubes and k-tails. it was an awesome fathers day with the wife and kids in the boat getting some nice fish!!
