May 4, 2005 at 11:06 pm #361250The Mille Lacs Messenger reports today that band has harvested 66,600 lbs of walleye and 9,300 lbs of northern pike. Rick Brusewitz of the Aitkin Fisheries Office said that the catches are going down. Whatever that might mean?
They had a picture of a Flambeau Band member holding a nice smallmouth bass. Nice catch!!!!!!
May 5, 2005 at 12:32 am #361265If it is decent on Saturday I should be out doing some scouting. We are going up to get the boat and I just bought an Aqua-vu that really wants to go swimming. Do you guys think I will spook fish before I can see them in 8 fow or less. Would it even be worth heading out with the camera? Bobber, are there any perch around your place right now? I might have to bring along some little jigs and some bobbers.
May 5, 2005 at 1:08 am #361269I think if you are easying through the shallows you will be able to see some fish. I have it by a good resource that others will be out with the cameras this weekend. Let us know what you find.
Sadly I have to miss opener. Dang mother is having her B-day party that weekend.
Good luck everyone!!
May 5, 2005 at 1:57 am #361282Bigfife, I would take look out on 3/4 mile and also Flamingo would be good places to do a looking with the camera! Hook and I will be out with our head in the hood on the aquaview also this wkend!!!!! I don’t know about the perch…….
May 5, 2005 at 1:06 pm #361344Hey d,
I picked up the coke last night. How about a few captains around the fire saturday night?
May 5, 2005 at 5:14 pm #361432Or the infamous “What’s it gonna take?” God, I loved that one! D, what was the answer? A walleye about 38″ long?
I look forward to this more than the deer hunting opener !
No camera for us, we still do it the old fashined way! Stick our heads under water, and have a look! “You just look for that one rock, just off the Bananna Bar”, and hang a left…. God I love fishing up there!Got my new Garmin chip today! Was playing around on a few of our spots. It is amazing how accurate we were with some, and how we could probably have done better on some others! Can’t wait to try it real time !
May 5, 2005 at 5:16 pm #361436Bobber, do you need anything from down here? If so, let me know, and I can make a run for you before we come up.
TuckMay 5, 2005 at 10:05 pm #361498Thought I would post a pic of the BooBoo Prize!!!!
Believe or not!! This is what I won in 1994 when I failed to catch a walleye on opening day!
May 6, 2005 at 2:59 pm #361616Now I know why Dman said I could fish in this event last year. He wanted a sucker rookie to compete against!! Hopefully next year boys!!
May 6, 2005 at 6:08 pm #361666Mama Hooks says I can bring tater salad for Friday night. I’ll tame it down a little so there are no emergencies in the boat on Sat. No boiling the taters in lutey water.
May 6, 2005 at 6:25 pm #361670Thanks for the contribution Putz.
Now all we need is a cook and a bartender and it will be a heck of an evening!
I’m thinking i’ll refrain from getting in the way this time and just stand back and watch, eat and drink for a change!
May 7, 2005 at 2:23 am #361716Hook! Youv’e fried your fish! LOL! Let us do it! We’ll watch you get Happy!
May 9, 2005 at 6:21 pm #362030And Happy I’ll be!
Bob and I took a short trip out on the lake with the UW camera saturday. The water temps were 48-51 degrees in the shallow rocks and 46-48 degrees in the deeper water off shore. If that helps anyone!
May 10, 2005 at 12:11 pm #362197Tuck, I asked Hook where they seen fish and he changed the subject so quick and started playing the jetti mind tricks on me I actually got lost walking back to the cabin from his place.
May 10, 2005 at 12:33 pm #362204Oh-oh, ElRoy and I are staying at his place! We’ll watch for that!
You know, there is a good chance that he an Bob may forget where the heck it was that they saw them!
ElRoy and I know where we are going, and it’s not where you think it is!
