Just cleaned up my gear and spooled up my reels with fresh line…Anyone have thoughts on where the action will be on opener? Rocks, gravel, sand? What are the water temps?
I plan on starting with some of my favorite gravel/rock areas in the 15-19 foot depths.
I have never trolled on opening weekend but I know some do and have success. Any thoughts?
The season can’t start soon enough!

If your heading out at midnight,I would start the night out trolling a crankbait with a tight wobble like the orignal Rapala the Perch or black/silver pattern in size 9 or 11. Dont hesitate to get right up next to shore. Focus on 5-7 feet of water and look for shorelines with less boat traffic. If there is some wind blowing in your area and boat control is tought, slip bobbers with leeches or minnows would be my second choice.
During the day I would rig leeches on long snells.
Its all going to depend on weather.
