spent the day perching with george from hunters point resort yesterday. he plowed at least 13 miles of lake road, that big wind on monday really drifted in all the roads. we cleaned 41 for 3 of us, and then dusted them with george’s special fish coating and cooked them up. they were the best fish that i had this month. it took a few different spots to find the biters, and when we did the bite was good. big fish honors went to my friend mikey with a 1.45lb. i have knowen george for over 3 yreas now and this was the first time fishing with him, can’t wait till the next time. if you are thinking about hitting the flats this weekend george has all his roads opened up after the big blow and also plowed a few new ones up around agate bay. don’t forget that he is only charging $5 for a road pass the rest of the year……..tom f

    Thanks for the update Tom!
George can be a lot of fun. Now that the ice fishing season is winding down, I’m sure his stress level has dropped!
It was nice meeting you last weekend, hope to cross pathes in the future.

You better look out, you’ll be giving Bob a run for the title soon here. Bob got a new scale the other day and gained 20 lbs. immediately!
Heck, I have dropped 15 lbs since the first of the year.

Maybe me and Bob should partner up for the Wacker this year? We could use the Johnsonville Pro-V

If I read that right, is Hook saying Bob is 6’9″ around?!?!

I’ll take ya Bob! The only problem is that you and I seem to attract lightning during the Wacker! Remember, we came about 1/4″ away from winning that SOB! I still remember you releasing that fish on @#$%^&* reef! Whata drag! Oh well, thats fishing!

Just jokin’ Hook! But not about the fish! Right Bob?

Sounds like the perch are bitting for some of u, Im kinda new to fishing mille lacs for jumbo’s. I was woundering if anyone could tell me what is the best kind of jigs/bait to use for perch on mille lacs. Im also woundering what area of the lake is the best bet to get good fishing? dont want to drive an hour and a half and get skunked.

I like to use a jigging spoon with only the head of a minnow. I also like to purchase crappie minnows as you normally get a little more varity of size in the bucket. The weasel made by JB lures in a gold color has been one of the better ones this ice season. As far as where to go, I would plan on looking to the mud flats for the active jumbo’s. Hunters Point Resort on the eastside of Mille Lacs has good roads to a part of the flat areas. Stop in at Hunters and ask George to show you the way! He has a map in the resort that might help lead you to some fish. The Boot flat, Center, And Blue Jug are a few that have been producing fish the last few weeks. Oh….almost forgot Fishers Flat also!

Good luck, let us know how you do!

Did you guys see the latest Outdoor News? Gary Roach actually put in some GPS coordinates for fishing perch on Mille Lacs. Haven’t checked the lake map yet to see if these are community holes or some secret spot, but thought you would be interested.

The spots Gary listed were on Fletcher Flat and another spot on the Bumps & Humps!
