My brother & I fished the Big Pond one last time this year on Wednesday night 11-24-04. It was one very cold, clear, and calm night. We fished the weeds south of Garrison. No walleyes were caught in first 2 hours but our first 2 fish ended up being a nice double when we had a slight breeze Ended up catching 7 walleyes in 21-24 inch range and 1 small northern. Water temperature was 34-35 degrees so the open water season is quickly drawing to a close. Trolling speed was very slow .9 to 1 mph with some pauses with kicker motor in neutral. Best crankbait was a #12 Tennessee Shad Husky Jerk. Due to cold water fish have lost their fight a bit and were lethargic once they were in the boat. We were the only rig at Pikes Peak ramp & we only saw 2 rigs at Casino ramp. Thanks Bobber & others for the reports on conditions on the lake. Good luck to anyone still venturing out this year & be careful out there!

Thanks for the update! I am a little suprised how fast the water temp dropped last week. We did have some colder temp’s and a couple of windy day’s…..I think the windy days really mix the lakes surface up, allowing the temperature of it to drop.

It won’t be long now and we will see some ice forming in the bays and along our shorelines.

Best get the Otter pointed at the garage door opening!!!!
