I was lucky and got in on what will probably be the last decently warm night of the Fall 9/9 to 9/10. Got to the lake around 6PM and immediately headed out to where we got the fish on Sat. night (Indian Point). I didn’t get a hit on my first pass out, but that was to be a rare thing this night. Once I started fishing the South Side of the reef with that South/West Wind it was AAAAAWWWWWWWWNNNNNNN! For a while it was as rough out there as my little boat can handle, but it calmed down and actually got warmer around 3AM.
The Tally:
15 Eyes 23″,24″x2,25″x5,26″x5,27″,28″ The 28″ had a a big head and thin body, probably a light 7lber, the 27″ and several of the 26’s were total chunck dogs and I bet the 27″ was a mid 8lb fish and several of the 26’s were 7’s.
2 Pike 26″ and 28″
3 Tullibee (looks like the Whitefish have arrived)
Plus 1 Gold Husky Jerk (And no lures lost for once)
I think I also tied into a Muskie or Big Pike; I had the dude hooked for about 10 seconds and was fighting it like it was a good fish but nothing unusual, but then the fish turned and swam away from me taking out drag at an astoshing rate, the hooks popped out while it was running. The last time I had a fish pull like that was Salmon that are over 15lbs out of lake Michigan, whatever it was it was very powerful.
The Fish were caught on a Suspending Firetiger Long A, A suspending Blue and White tiger striped KVD Long A, and the last fish on a White multi colored Suspending Mystic Minnow. All of these baits are discontinued.
