When does the trolling bite end?

    Good morning,

Last week I was lucky enough to make it up for the full moon trolling bite twice last week. It was my first time up there and we managed to pull in a few fish each trip. We fished Rocky Reef and Pike Point. The bigger fish were on Rocky but a more consistent bite on Pike. I am considering heading up there again this week and am wondering what everyone’s opinion is on when the “night trolling bite” ends? Thanks in advance.

I am going up tonight and wed night, the sky will be clear and the moon is still pretty bright. So the fishing should still be good till this weekend. Reading what people are saying sounds like anyone who goes up should do good.

Don’t take this as a smart butt reply, but it will end when the lake freezes over! There will be excellent nights ahead as long as the weather permits. Another key period will be Nov 11th through the 14th as there will be a new moon effect on the lake/fish. But, really anytime you can get out in November should be worth the effort.

    Good Luck.

Jon hit it right on the head. There are some VERY good nights to be had yet on Mille Lacs Lake. If you are willing to put up with mother nature and her elements and be willing to tweak your presentation a bit, you will be rewarded with some very good fishing. Last year James Holst and I were one of the last boats on the lake on the west side around the full moon in November as we had to chisel our way out of the boat launch to get the boat out there….we caught fish and some biggies to boot!

I’d have to agree that the fish stay agressive right until Ice UP. The big problem is that it gets darn cold out there. I hate it when you get ice build up on the line and guides.

    So,

Being that it is so good up til ice, would that be a key area to work, for both pike and eyes? On early ice in December?

How long do they hang around the shorelines???
