This weekend our crew caught 5 tagged walleyes. Crossin Eye caught 3 himself. Is this common or was this just a fluke? By the way we did pretty good. I had the hot lure and it’s not commonly available so I’ll just keep it secret.
For the most part fire tiger patterns worked best but man those fish were lure specific PICKY. I heard it’s suppose to be cloudy later this week. I hope it clears for you moon fisherman becasue the bite seemed to pick up when it popped out of the clouds Sat night.

    Suzuki,

I have been seeing about 2-4 tagged fish a night on trips this fall on Mille Lacs. I have not been very good at reporting these tagged fish due to the numbers that we see a night, so I need to work on that a bit.

    Lucky lure huh?
Firetiger and that not so availible color was our hot lures over the weekend too!

I have caught a lot of tagged fish on Mille Lacs. I’m assuming that will be the norm for quite a while.

On a related topic… on a different lake last year opener (opener ’03) we ran into about 5 or 6 tagged walleyes. All were about the same size. When we called them in, the DNR fella was amazed because tagging had only been done once on that lake in the recent past (about 7 years ago) and he said it had literally been a couple years since ANYONE had caught a tagged fish. After all that time with no activity, we happened upon a bunch of them hanging out together and caught several. They had only tagged males so despite being older, these fish were all around 21 inches.
