Got out on the water Saturday morning about 5am. I pulled cranks till daylight with no luck. The water temp is still pretty warm at 67.8 deg’s. I’m going back out Monday morning again and give it another try. The crank bite should turn on as this month passes……..Oh! by the way it was great to be on the water and see the daylight appear over the eastern skies!!!!

I was up there Thursday night but didnt get out due to the wind blowing all night.Friday night I went out just before dark and headed up by Lakeside I wasnt happy to see that the water had warmed up a few degrees.I trolled for about 2 hours and only had a couple of short hits and wasnt marking the fish I was a couple nights before.Around 11:00 I headed south and tried Doe,Hennipen,Hawkbill and Shaws and never got a bite.As much as I hate to get skunked I gave up at 2:00 AM.Oh well theres next weekend I hope the water cools back down.

This big wind that we have had the last 2 1/2 days will also help drop the water temp.

I was wondering how big the waves were on your side of the lake were yesterday. I was on a local local lake yesterday morning for a few hours, it was plenty rough, I could only imagine the big water….

I was up Friday night…..fished till dawn….not very many people fishing….caught 15…included were a 28, 26, 25, and a 24…also caught a bonus 42+ ski…with the warmer water temps the most effective speed was 2.7 mph….I need to figure out how to catch fish like this when I fish in the GNWC state tournament in two weeks!

CrawlerKing that’s pretty darn awesome this time of year. Any tips you want to share? Are you fishing rocks, weeds, sand or a combination? Sounds like you will do fine in that tournament.

This time of year I really try to focus on the rocks….the wind plays a large role in how I fish….my general rule is that the windier it is the shallower I go…(word of caution: if you don’t want to pound your prop and skag you will probably have to troll downwind on the windy nights)

Any reports on fish or even water temps? Hopefully this week the weather will cool the water down some. Looking at possibly fishing Friday night if all goes well! Thanks in advance guys!

I’m sure if they are getting the wind we had the last couple days it’s helping also. Come on October!!!!

I have been getting reports from the neighborhood that its still slow….the water is still to warm. Yes we have had some very windy periods that has mixed up the lake and has lowered the water temp a little. The nights are getting cooler and the hours of daylight is also getting shorter!
I hope that by the September full moon things will have picked up. The only action that I have heard is a few walleye being caught bobber fishing just at dark.

I’m waiting for the full moon action!!!!!!!

I was out Friday night and cuaght just one eye pulling cranks. But we noticed that the baitfish were starting to stack up on the edges of the reefs. Just didn’t find any eyes with them. Sunday night was much better for the folks I talked to. Lots fo eyes with some big girls as well. I’ll be back out Thursday night on the SW side.

I’ll be heading up monday AM and will be on the big water until October 4. The reports I’ve been hearing have been mixed. Some really bad… other pretty good. Not much in the middle which of course would lead a guy to believe there’s not much of a wide spread bite yet.

Trolled the west side last night(18th). It was pretty darn windy. Water temp was 65! Hope that helps. I know some cold weather sure would…

Painfully slow on the big pond. Fished Friday evening on the east side rocks, one 12″ walleye to show for our efforts. Fished Vineland Bay area on Saturday, this was also very slow. It is obvious that the lake has not turned over yet. We boated an upper 30″ class pike casting large crankbaits. We also saw 3 large muskies sunning themselves in the bay. Water temp 64 degrees.

Well I’m off! I’ll be on the big water starting tomorrow (monday 9/21) afternoon through October 4. I’ll be chasing smallies and muskies with Steve Vick for the first day and then I’ll get on with becoming a night owl in search of the walleye motherlode. My first reports should be up Tuesday. I hope to hear from a lot of the guys that will be up on the lake this month and I look for more guys to share info this season. I know I’ll be doing what I can but getting 3 or 4 or more guys regularly sharing would really help every one out, particularly with the warm water temps that should keep the bite from going ballistic for a few days yet.

I will be up next week for a week pending the arival of my new vessel. Destry and the boys have done everything in their power to get it ready, but you can only do so much until the motor arrives.
    See you up there!

Thanks Don! Word out of LaCannes is that the motor will ship Wednesday (Tomorrow). It wont get to them until the end of the week. All of the tiller components come from Evinrude’s parts group. I don’t know how quick these guys are. I may just save my vacation until October. We’ll see.

    Well….

Dustin and I have been rained on for 48 hours straight from Monday – Tuesday AM, blown around like paper dolls and chased from the lake a few minutes ago by one NASTY storm cell! And the fishing is slow. Actually… it’s SAAA-LOW! Water temps are hovering at 63 – 65 degrees depending on where you’re at on the lake. The west side has produced most of our fish with 90% of those fish being in the 23 – 26 inch range but the numbers aren’t there yet like they have been the last 6 years that I’ve been fishing the lake or as they should be. The north end has been good for a couple fish and the SW reefs have been a lost cause to this point. A little cool down would help immensely. The best bite is right at sun down and if the lack of boats is an indication the “word” is the bite is tough.

Two cool nights in a row would turn this around in a hurry. I wish I had more to share. The best certain is yet to come. As soon as the lake settles we’re going back out for the night to see if we can dial them in a little. I’ll stop back in at the pc tomorrow and get photos and a complete report up to help those headed out for the weekend.

I’m sitting here on the east side right now and if make it out on Big Pt. we might not be able to see all your camera flashes ‘cuz you’re bound to be down in the troughs between the rollers hammering this side of the lake right now. MAN ‘O MAN is it breezy. IT will be the west side for me tonight.

We fished the NE corner on the sand last night and found it to be slow going with only a few walleyes and one decent musky to show for our efforts. I’ll be tossing up a report in a few minutes but suffice it to say, for us and for those we’re talking with of late, it’s a tough bite.

Well then, maybe my trolling run will start at Hunters, then Lakeside, White Cap, Flagship, and the Wharf!!
