At Fisherman’s Wharf – 6:00 PM Friday & Saturday evenings. Friday the Vikings are playing at 6:30 PM so do plan on staying for a couple beers! Bluefleck and I will be up there Wed. night so we should have a good game plan to share with everyone that is in need of some suggestions on how to get into some smallies over the weekend.

My cell phone number is 507-271-0362 If anyone needs directions or has questions about this gathering after 5 PM Wednesday, call me at this number and I’ll be happy to help as I’m able.

I’m looking forward to seeing a good number of old and new faces there this weekend!

6:30!?!?!?!? That puts us right in the middle of the evening bite!! We’ll have to find a reef close to the Wharf so it’s not such a long swim back for ya!

You’ll survive a couple hours off the water just fine… lol Besides, a beer and a burger will hit the spot after a long day on the water. Get us ready for a night out chasing walleyes.

Hey, what about a group perch fry, James? I know you love to eat them and I know my 12 year old nephew that I am bringing loves to catch them.

Sounds good to me. We can ge ta head count and make arrangements for that at the Friday GTG. Jon Jordan has all the needed “stuff” up at the Wharf already. I’m VERY interested a giving the hot grease bath to a bunch of tasty perch!

Lookin’ forward to meeting you and your nephew.

Sounds good. Everyone keep all of your perch and walleye for a fish fry on Saturday. I’d be happy to fry up a batch!

Also, feel free to contact me on my cell number listed below if there are any questions. I monitor channel 82 on the VHF and go by “JJ”.

I have planned spending the weekend renting an RV space at the Wharf. For you other guys spending the night at the Wharf, will you rent dock space at the Wharf and leave your boat in the water or do you pull it out each evening?

I pull my rig at night. But many use the docks there without any problems. The channel is protected from the lake, so wave action is not an issue there.

Bluefleck and I will be “up” Wednesday evening and will be fishing Thursday on the upper mississippi until sun down so we won’t be making the wharf for supper that night.

UPDATE: I just talked to Daron at the Warf and he has informed me that there will be a IDA boat launch discount. The launch fee will be $8. He also said the Vikings game will be on the big screen and there will be FREE beer on touchdowns.
The resort opens at 9am on Fri and 8am on Sat. Daron may be out of town this weekend so Lori will be the contact person.

Remember to mention your with IDA to get your launch discount.

Can’t beat that with a stick. They have one of the nicer landings / harbors on that side of the lake.

    Yep,
Their Harbor is second to none on the lake. We can run 100+ boats through it in around 15-20 minutes during tourneys. That new exit they put in works slick for passing through.
Hope to make Friday night for the game (Free Beer), Saturday night for sure!

Hook and I will be there…….I’ve been really busy with my work, not much time fishing for sure.
I did get out a short time Saturday morning with zero to show in my efforts. Those that I have talked with are saying to fish in a little deeper water say 6-10 feet. Too many cold fronts coming through..another one today.
I’m over dooooooooo to spend some time on the water!
A beer or two sounds really good also!

A little word of caution: be carefull near the bouy’s and near the south eastside of Doe Island and others on the southend of the lake. The lake is a little low right now and you could hit the rocks. The smallies are near these rocky structures and weeds….The break water just west of the Wharf would be a good place to try also, many of these break waters have been built with big boulders and granite pieces! Great structure for the smallies…..

    See ya this Friday evening!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Guys,
I just found out about this gathering today. All kinds of questions – mainly anyone trade an open seat for $$, or I could trailer my boat up there and fish with someone. Caveat being… never been up there, no idea what to do. PM me if interested… thinking Sat would work best.

Sure sounds like a good time, and the weather will be not too bad. work schedule is going to get in the way this weekend, but will be thinking of you guys catching good fish, and drinking free touchdown beers. sure can’t beat that for a good time. the weather in the long range NWS forecasts looks for some clouds and cool temps, for the end of the week is upper 40’s for lows, and daily highs in upper 60’s to low 70’s. sunday looks like the warmest day with highs maybe upper 70’s. as far a rain goes looks like there should be little threat, with most rain occuring in the southern mn and southeastern sections fo the state. best of luck, and will be looking for lots of pictures. James has always said, “we are all about pictures.” Jack..

Fishing up there is almost as easy as falling out of the boat. K-grubs, Senkos, and Tubes all in natural colors work as well as the standard yellow/green and white. These are my main go to. Also Chug Bugs, Skitter-Pops, Huskey Jerks, Rattle Traps.

Once you have the tackle it is down hill. The best thing I would suggest is a map like King Tutts and locate the reefs and rocks and fish them from the top in 2 feet of water down to 10 feet of water on the sides. All of the shallow reefs and rocks are marked with bouys(sp?). This will make them easy for you to locate.

Look for me at the Wharf. I have a black Dodge quad cab pulling a balck and grey Alumacraft T-pro with a Yamaha on the back. I would be happy to meet you and point you in the right direction.

Wow guys, that sounds like a blast. I’m fairly new to the area, but I read your posts on a daily basis. I’m making my first open water trip up to Mille Lacs on Friday. Was planning to throw for some Muskie and try to work a little bass and walleye fishing in as well. I’d love to meet you guys and talk some smack, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to spare the time off the water. I can only fish Friday night and Sat. until about noon. Can’t wait to get out though. I’ll try to swing by for a beer if my little lund can handle the waves.

Good luck and thanks again for all the great information!
