Anyone getting into those big jumbos like last year at this time? I’m really chomping at the bit to get up there in 2 weeks for the IDA Bass GTG and I’m jonesing for some fresh perch.

Who said we were planning on coming home?
I hope you know I’m going to make you go out after dark and fish ‘eyes. By the way, how well does that champion of yours troll?
August 9, 2004 at 1:20 pm #316091The Champion trolls nicely at about 5500 rpm’s.
As for going out after dark and fishing ‘eyes? Bring it on!!!!
August 9, 2004 at 1:27 pm #316096Might be hard to keep the cranks running straight at 60 mph.
I’m willing to bet we’ll see a pretty decent night bite for ‘eyes this August when we’re up there. Dustin and I fished the full moon in August 2 summers ago in the middle of a darn heat wave and caught some darn nice walleyes. Muskie too. We will have to come to some sort of work around for that champion when it comes to the trolling though. Got transom room for a T8? … lol
August 9, 2004 at 1:27 pm #316097The perch bite really took off last Sept. So we might be a couple weeks early. Craw #5 shad raps on Big Point caught a lot of big perch for me.
There are tons of those smaller 4-6 inchers out there now. Next year will be a bonanza!
August 9, 2004 at 9:32 pm #316244The perch have been biting pretty good the last couple of weeks but you have to sort threw them.Ive been catching them from 4-13.5 inches in 15-20 FOW on the rocks fishing for eyes. This weekend I am going to bring the ultra light and some small leeches and crawlers and try for some more as the walleyes have been tough during the day.Dont tell anyone but these same areas have been producing eyes at night. Is anyone going to be bringing some IDA hats to the GTG as I would like to buy a couple.
August 9, 2004 at 11:07 pm #316255We have us a perch report! Kick butt. I’d rather eat a couple yellow bellies over a walleye any day so I appreciate you sharing this. If you don’t mind I’ll likely ask again closer to the actual event to get the latest scoop.
Yup… I’ll make sure to bring some of them fine looking hats along for the ride.
August 9, 2004 at 11:32 pm #316262I have everything for a fish fry. Burner, baskets, gallon of oil….
I’m with you James, I love perch! Especially out of Milly.
August 10, 2004 at 12:35 am #316270Im heading up on Thursday for about 10 days but I am going to BIR Friday-Sunday so I will probably only be fishing in the evening for eyes.Starting Monday I will do a little perch searching and if I run home to mow the grass on Tuesday or Wednesday I will post a report here.If you dont here from me and you are up there during the week I have a green fish house with blue lights on it on the east side of the channel at the Wharf.Stop in if your in the area or I will see ya at the GTG.If I get some fish during the week I will save them and donate them to the fish fry if you have one.
August 10, 2004 at 3:33 am #316303Thanks castaway. I’ll look for anything you might be able to share. I hear the BIR can be quite the party. Have a heck of a good time!
