Just thought I would share on how we did Sunday with 2 lines out. Started out in the Heavy Fog 9am. There was quite a few fish on top of the flat. We trollled the edges Running one line @ around 21′ feet and one around 10′. I was graphing fish @ both depths. We pulled 2 fish down low (21″ and a 24″). Switched to running both low. Did not pick up anything else and started to see less fish on top, so we switched plans and started trying to find a school somewhere in no mans land. Did not run into many schools. Some isolated fish here and there, so we just started pulling cranks where we graphed some fish. Only picked up one more fish the rest of the day (4pm). This 26.5″ came @ about 28′ down in 37’of water. We caught fish on 2 colors a chrome clown type color and a what I will call a “gay pride color” rainbow.

After the fog blew off it was a high sun and very calm . Not great for fishing but a good day to spend on the water. The hound even got to take a swim to cool off and retreive a few. Good thing he goes 75-80 lbs. I was thinking of that Muskie caught up here and the post about a missing dog!

Thanks Steve D. for the information passed on a few weeks ago, and a tutorial that was 2nd to none . I just need to wait until next Summer to use the things I learned and hopefully will have a little better bite, then what I’m experiencing now! If any of you are questioning of using/hiring a guide from here (IDA) ! I would suggest not to question any longer. Go ahead and book a date. I have only had one experience so far, but the knowledge I gained in that one day. It would take me a long time (years) to gain on my own.

I’m looking forward to the Fall bite and fishing with James come October!

Sounds like the bite is about done until fall! I’d also like to say thanks to Steve D. Although I haven’t had the chance to get out with him yet (I will), he helped me tremendously via this website in narrowing the learning curve on these open-water walleyes. It’s great to see a guy that is not afraid to share valid information to let others enjoy the fun! Remember, please catch, photo and release these fish because they are all spawners. Ripper, I hit the open water bite about 5 times this year (some good, some not so good). Keep me in mind next year and maybe we can get out together. See you this fall!

Will Do B/B/Eyes! I did release the 21″er, she was hefty! I’m looking forward to the Fall bite !
This summer the pond was not so kind to me as the last 3 to 4 have been! I was pumped up learning more every year, thought this year could bring some nice catches, but the EYE GOD had something else in store for me this Summer! I guess that is why they call it fishing instead of catching

    Good Luck this Fall Brian!

Thanks for the kind words guys and I am glad you found my info educational and enjoyable. Unfortunately the bite this year was fair with a few sparked trips bordering excellent, but overall slightly off the pace from years past. Rest assured that next year and many many years to come that you guys now have all the info to put those big walleyes in the boat consistently.

I think this fall bite will be a good bite once again. I do not predict it to be a banner year, but I think the bite will be very good! But then again…..where can a guy go and catch 30-50 fish a night and have the average be 26″-27″……aka Reality Check!

Thanks again to both of you for giving me feedback on your results. This helps me in return eliminate water for the next trips out!
