That at 0001 there would not be one rig at the cove bay access. I did not see one boat on the water at midnight. It wasn’t the weather, because there ha e been years with way worse conditions than last night. As of right now I can see 3 boats out in the bay fishing. It is a sad day here in mille lacs land when on opening morning, there is less boats on the lake than there was on October 1st last year

I see about six boats in Vineland Bay this morning, which is six more than last year! They all are fishing in the 12 to 17′ area. Best of luck to all.

I have yet to understand why anyone would want to be out there at opening minute. They’ll still be there at 0600.

My buddy just drove around the lake at about 8:30. He said it looks like a ghost town compared to years past.
I feel bad for the resorts – It is no surprise but it still is a sad day.

Campground is full in Malmo, about 30 rigs at the landing.

I just got back from Long Lake, Washburn Co, WI and the walleye limit there is ONE walleye and it must be 18″ or better. Care to guess why that’s happening?? jerr

With the lack of walleyes it is still tough to catch a limit of 1.

With that slot I’m sure not many, but I wouldn’t mind one bit catching fish like that would be a blast especially big girls, which I’m guessing a lot of them were….X2 on feeling bad for the resorts

Yesterday, Liberty Beach landing was totally full, they were parking on 47. Cedar Creek had half dozen or so rigs but the dock isn’t in there. Right now, there are 11 boats spread out between Big Point, Shaws and Doe Island.

This place is a ghost town. Nobody at the public landings and nobody at the resorts. 1400 Monday and hunters point had 0 boats on the lake fishing. No empty trailers in the parking lot. I only hope that it gets better as the bite picks up

I heard today that the Liberty Beach access is the “only” one that had its dock in? What’s with that?

Now that you mention it, cove bay dock is not in yet either. The dock at Shakopee has been in since the Tuesday before opener.

Do you think the DNR is doing its best to help resorts by forcing guys to launch elsewhere??

People are launching elsewhere alright, they are launching at other lakes, not here on mille lacs. So no, they are not helping the resorts

Has the fishing picked up at all this week? I’m thinking of making a run up this sunday and fishing out of the west side possibly out of terry’s.Is it still a minnow bite or are leaches starting to turn fish on?

I heard of walleyes being caught last night with leeches in the rocks (up until 10pm anyways)
