It was just passed on to me and wanted to let you know that May 9 – 11 there will be increased enforcement in the area for AIS & Boat Plugs.

Please help communicate this to the public via social media, letting your customers, neighbors, friends, etc. know.

Hopefully we can curb any enforcement action though education and reminders

On a related note they will also be targeting vehicles missing valve stem caps on their trailer wheels, as that is just as relevant.

Last fall I was out west of the Metro and got stopped at a boat landing by a local “AIS warden”. He gave my boat a thorough going over and wanted to check my livewells. Ok, no problem. Then he wanted to check my remaining boat compartments. I told him to go…..

I was told that if I didn’t give him the ok, I couldn’t launch and the police would be called and I’d be arrested for trespass. He also said it was a county ramp and not a public ramp. Not sure if it was a public launch or not, I consented, fuming the entire time. I checked when I got home and it was indeed a public, DNR launch.

The next time some whiny assed punk asks to see my compartments, whether he’s wearing a badge or not, he’s not getting in. The law is pretty clear that without a warrant, they cannot look inside barring a “reasonable suspicion”.

I am so sick of being told to give up my rights for something nebulous and vague. I’ve drawn my line in the sand. Look all you want at my boat and trailer and even the livewells if you want, but nothing inside the boat or truck unless you get a warrant.

I hope i get a “Free” boat wash.

I always tell them they better wash it…But they never have. Boat leaks like a siv.

I bet the “AIS WEED DISPOSAL BINS” will be full of garbage after opening weekend.

    Check the Rules again,
I don’t believe an A.I.S. Inspector has the right to enter your boat or look in any compartments.

Threats like he gave you, I’d be calling his boss and a C.O. myself.

I don’t & will not open my livewell for anyone but a C.O., nothing to hide, just no punk is getting in my boat and potentially breaking a rods, or messing something else up.

P.M. me with what landing you were at. I on the Carver County Parks Commission and hope it was not someone we hired.
