I like the idea of spreading the harvest over wider slot lengths. Can’t keep pounding on the same year class!

However if they move the slot up a few inches we will be still working on the same year class we have in the past few. The ones we missed would have grown. Major changes in thinking for harvest sizes need to be done.

Agreed. What about also changing when the netting is allowed by the tribal community? Could it be done later in the season, instead of when the females are spawning?

I am thinking more along the lines of any 2 fish over 15 inches. If you want to harverst a couple larger fish, have at it.

110% agreement here…We really need to work at getting the size distribution of walleyes/pike/SMB back to a more naturally occuring balance. I’d bet that 30% or more of the walleye population up there is at 20″ or bigger which is more than double what would be a very high naturally occuring size distribution. However they decide to do it we can avoid continuing with a narrow 2″ slot.
