My dad and I hit the pond for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday. We pulled a whopping 0. We fished Shaws, and a couple other smaller pieces of structure around that area. We marked the most fish on Shaws. By most, I mean around 10 fish. We drilled a lot of holes and spent the majority of the time outside the shack. We obviously were not fishing the write structure for this time in the season. We were fishing rock structure in 15 – 25 fow. It was good to get out ice fishing for the first time in a few years, and we will be back at it this weekend.
We ventured out quite a ways, and could see people on Three Mile. The sleds really made for easy navigation. We did see people with wheelers out and about. Just like everyone else is reporting, there are areas of slush, but the sleds were able to stay on top with ease. Ice thickness ranged from over 12″ in Sunset Bay (and around Shaws), to around 8″ out a few miles. Anywhere that had ice pushed up had slush.
