Positive Signs – Fat Healthy Fish

A week ago around the Nov full moon I did some night fishing on Mille Lacs with a friend of mine with good success. All of our walleyes including some of the bigger fish were fat and well proportioned. We even managed to catch 4 in the slot to bring home. These walleyes are eating well as one of the walleyes we cleaned had 14 baby perch about 1-2 inches long crammed into its bulging stomach. The bite this winter might be a little slower than last winter but hopefully we won’t see any fish with big heads and skinny bodies.

Yeah, they are certainly looking healthy. I don’t think I caught one single skinny fish this fall, and some of them looked as though they’d been eating at the casino buffet.
