I had to try it one more time before my boat goes into storage for the winter.
My son Corey and I have not fished together at all this year due to conflicting work schedules. Mike and I have been out several times and I have had a hard time putting Mike on some nice walleyes this season. I think I put a little extra pressure on myself to deliver some walleyes for these two.
Corey, Mike and I got out on the lake at 9:00 PM, we launched on the west side and started fishing St. Albans bay. It was a quiet night, no wind and two other boats off in the distance as we started.
We were out for 20 minutes and landed our first 23″ fattie in 8 FOW. We thought we were in for a good night, as the night went on we caught one more walleye and a nice northern, again this walleye was a fattie.
So my last fishing trip of the year was not a great night for catching fish but it sure was nice to see how healthy the walleyes we caught are. Hopefully it is a good sign for the health of the fisheries and it’s future.
It was great to be out fishing with the boys again.

I was in one of the other boats by you last night. From the reports I had read I was surprised we ended up catching some fish last night. From 7:30-9:45 we boated six eyes 20.5″-26″, two Northerns about 30″, and two more that got off. They were all really fat healthy fish. At 9:45 the trolling motor batteries died and we had to use the big motor, and couldn’t go slow enough and didn’t get another fish. Too bad the batteries died, or I think we could have caught a few more.

Great reports, guys. I was thinking about running up there but decided not to. Maybe I should’ve given it one more chance.

A buddy and I fished West side rocks and weeds last night. Weather was decent but we could have used a little more wind. Water temp was about 43. Overall the fishing was slow but we kept at it and ended up with 7 walleyes for the night. We had 1 walleye under the slot and the rest were over slot with most of our fish in the 24-25 inch range. Majority of our fish were caught with our rods in the rod holder and our best trolling speed was 1.2 to 1.4 mph. Here are a couple of photos from our trip. Good luck to anyone heading up for another trip!

Oh boy, I shouldn’t have read this, I may have to take a trip up there seeing as I’m coming up empty on St Croix.
