Is there a place I can look to see where we are at for a total of the 2013 anglers quota on Mille Lacs? Have some extra vacation to use up and thought about going up to the fish house for a week this fall. Just wondering if there is even a chance that fishing will be an option by then since most are reporting a very good bite as of now! Thanks!

I can’t imagine that fishing would be shut down if that is your concern. At worst it would be catch and release only.

I don’t have an answer to your question.

The fishing is good. But the keeper slots are tuff to come by. I doubt we will go over quota.

I’m not aware of any place to see a running total of harvest.

How do they keep track of what has been harvested on a daily basis? It would be interesting to know their exact method.

I would like to see how they figure that as well.

On a side note I wish the ‘white man quota’ would just be referred to as all others. More than just white people who don’t get to net and spear. Sensitive on my part, perhaps, but kind of an ignorant statement too.

I just read this in the Outdoor News this morning, but I forget the exact figure….I think thus far non-tribal anglers have taken something like 17,500.

The DNR does creel surveys around the lake and then plugs that information into a computer. there is a formula that they use and that’s how they guess how many pounds have been taken out of the lake. There are plans to have keven22 come up here and figure it out because he knows it all. By the way, mille lacs is a NO CULL inland water lake so I don’t think we will be seeing a major bass tournament any time soon
