Heading up there to smallie heaven for a week next week and wondered if anyone had any advice to offer. Last year was our first trip up there, and, had not had better Smallmouth fishing in my life. Was much later in the year that I was up there last and we fished primarily rock piles on the SE portion of the lake.

Those same sort of areas be good this time of the year or should we hit softer bottomed & weedier areas?

Appreciate any and all suggestions – Thank ya,
    NT

Check out Alphid’s posts. He’s really got some great info in it.

I would hit the sand/weed transition areas in the SW courner of the lake or go to Vineland Bay and fish the reeds and the open part of the bay (There is a good amount of cabbage and sand mixed in).
I would through, small cranks, spinnerbaits, small finesse worms. If you like to fish with live bait, I would go with leeches (from what I’ve heard through other people this can be hot, I don’t fish smallies with live bait though).

Good luck and let us know how you do.

This weekend the smallies were chasing around all those 3 inch perch in the shallow water in the bays. From what I found most of the bays seemed to be holding fish.

Thanks much for the advice and I’ll sure let you know how we do. We’ll be up there for a week, so, hopefully, I’ll have Something good to report.

Sure is fun catchin those critters!

    Thanks again,

How did you do? Or are there any new reports from anyone else?

I am planning on getting up there at least one day this weekend and hopefully two.
