You know I was pretty tamed by the sight of opener and Mille Lacs on its way with all the river fishing I have been doing the last few weeeks, but after seeing Jon J’s excitement in his post, I could not help but get wound up!
I will be on the water about 3:00am Saturday morning probing the shallows!

Lucky dogs. I will be off work at 2 and hopefully on the road by 3:30 on Friday. I am pumped .

I intend to fish the Malmo area through the late morning on Saturday and come off and catch some zzzzz’s at my grandfathers place in Wahkon before heading out later in the afternoon on the south end for the evening bite. Are any of the members planning to meet some place and exchanging notes and get a bite to eat?

Kinda playing by ear. Hopefully have a fish fry at camp. Maybe get a morning bloody mary at either Macs or Hunters. Nothing set in stone.

Due to a busy work schedule I will not hit the road till Friday evening. Then it will be 7 days and nights in heaven. My group will hit the water at midnight , cold or not! With 6 guys fishing out of 2 boats we expect a fish fry on Saturday afternoon.

I’m getting as much sleep as possible and then it is on the road at 4 am. I should be fishing by 6 am. Sleep, yeah right, I’ll be staring at the ceiling all night. Good Luck!

I’m at my desk, twiddling my thumbs, counting the minutes… so that is at least one other.

There is no Instant Graemlin for twiddling thumbs.

I’m doing the same, but not twidling my thumbs, I’m tapping my foot.

You know… I get this feeling at this time of day on opening eve every year. I always put a full day in, go home, load up, and get to the lake in time to be on my spot at midnight. However, the message boards start to slow down Thursday night already and seeing all the boats heading north on the freeway adds to the anxiety. It feels like having detention on the last day of school. I feel like I’m the guy that should be turning out the lights as the last one out of town.

    Okay Derek,

    I’m outta here right now.
But will still need to wait for my wife when I get home.

At least the truck will be loaded ready to go!

    Good Luck to all.

Hope to have a report Saturday night!
