I emailed the DNR this morning with the following question.

Is the total possession limit of Mille Lacs slot walleye’s 4 fish or can a guy go out one day and catch 4 and go

out the next day and catch 2 for a total of 6 and still be legal under the state possession limit?

    The DNR’s reply.

I’m afraid that once you catch your 4 walleye. You would need to fish a different lake to bring you to your 6 fish state limit. Your limit on Mille Lacs is 4 walleye. If you had the 4 limit and wanted to fish for walleye the next day( on Mille Lacs) you would need to eat a few fish to lower your possession.

I was surprised to hear this. I thought 4 fish

one day and two the next would be O.K. but apparently it’s not.

The reply you got was correct. The only way you can take two more fish is to fish another lake. But at least now you know.
