Went out to what’s always been a great spot…it’s usually good for a couple of fish even in February, and it’s often been a DYNAMITE spot before mid-January.
Well, I got skunked yesterday. Don’t tell anyone.

Same thing happend to me last weekend. I was even moving around trying to find something. Usually I don’t have too. I’m chaulking it up to fishing and will try the spot again this weekend to start with.
Everythings been slow recently, due to that cold front we had. This weekend will be awesome though!!! Positive thoughts guys!
I heard a rumor from a friend who’s dad lives on the lake that the bite has been good in the bays.
Headed up after work for that fist ice trip of the season. Can’t wait! Will be on Big Point.

I did OK last weekend, talked to others that said the bite was on fire and others that got nothing. I hope to make a run up there on Sunday again, with a couple adjustments hopefully things pick up a bit.
Ill be up tomorrow after work. Will be all over till I find a good bite

Don’t feel too bad. I struck out in several of my early season go to spots this year as well. Often it can be as simple as moving just a few hundred yards/feet down the shoreline.
Well, after skunking in Secret Spot #1 on Thursday night, I walked to Secret Spot #2 and caught nine or ten yesterday (missed a couple, too…don’t tell anyone . Got out there around 2:00 p.m. and had a steady bite all day and night. Only got one jigging; all the rest came on the set line.
Thinking pretty highly of myself, I went back out today and caught….ZERO. Don’t tell anyone.
Very strange bite going on for me right now. During the “prime time hours” around sunrise and sunset, fishing has been super super slow. I’m not even seeing many fish. However, at night, it’s been lights out. Not sure if it’s the full moon with no snow and no cloud cover, or if I’m just a brilliant fisherman, or if it’s something else I can’t quite think of, but I haven’t slept for two nights in a row because the rattle reels keep going off every thirty minutes. Something like 20 or so fish (with lots of misses) the last two nights. All except one on set lines.
I also heard, lots of rattles in the wee hours of the morning… so much so, that I heard one group that left the lines lay on the floor so they could sleep off their hangovers…
Lol, Big G, one night around 3:30 I got sick of catching them so I left them out of the water, too. I got up at 6:30 to put the lines back down and had one on by 6:32.
The last few nights, the bite has been much slower, but still good. Still getting three or five most nights. I’ll be back up this weekend to see if the bite’s continued.
The bite has slowed even more…though I’m getting zero fish for…like, twelve hours, and then three in 45 minutes. Very sporadic. Reports from those I’ve talked to are equally random. Some guys get zero, most one or two, and some more than that.
I heard it was like someone threw a switch saturday night, turning off the hot bite
Yeah, but some guys whacked them on Saturday night, too. Guys I trust (the same guys who come in and say they got skunked on nights I whacked ’em) got into the double digits on Saturday night.
The bite was fairly consistent after dark, though, all the way through Tuesday when I left. I think Monday night I had four or five rattles go down, and Sunday was about that, too.
