The crappie bite was slow today. We picked up a few yesterday but they were very small. I think its still a little early. Saw a monster walleye in about 4 feet of water along with a few Pike. Also saw lots of fish stacked up on a few of my early season walleye spots. One more week.

Saturday evening I spent a bit of time at the fishing pier on the road to Hennepin park. There were a few small crappies and perch being caught. Even saw a good battle with a dog fish.
Unfortunately I was also witness to some of the “stewards” of the land and water doing a a bit of a trash job while fishing. Pop cans , food wrappers and plastic worm containers were left in the water and on shore. It is hard to believe that the small crappies , and I mean small , that were kept were much benefit as food. So sad.

Yep, most of the ones we caught were good for the aquarium.
