In this “Hooked Up!” webisode from In-Depth Outdoors, the guys are fishing in the fog and singing tunes from the musical “Annie,” while catching big smallmouth. Why? Honestly, we’re not sure.

For those that extend the bass season well into the fall, what’s your favorite presentation for cold-water smallmouth?

Learn to throw tubes for fall smallmouth bass with In-Depth Outdoors “Hooked Up!” host Greg Huff and his guest Jason Holmer, of BassUtopia.com. Huff and Holmer filmed this segment on Minnesota’s Lake Mille Lacs, but this pattern will work throughout the upper Midwest on most natural, glacial lakes with rocky bottoms.

Very fun vidio. Were you fishing these tubes on a straight jig head or as a caroline rig and h ow much fun to listen to the Mille Lacs Lake Mens choir.

I really like the editing in the video, and of course the 5 lb. smallies.

We were rigging them on jig heads designed specially for tubes (don’t remember the brand, but i usually get Bite-Me brand tube jigs) and we were experimenting with jig weight until we go t dialed in.

Although not shown in the video, I was also throwing hair jigs and 3- and 4-inch curly-tail grubs, but nothing produced like the tubes … which is why Holmer out-fished me! He tied on a green-pumpkin tube and a jerkbait, but after his first smallie on the tube, he stuck with it all day.

I get bored with one bait usually and start experimenting, to see if they will bite something else — and often times they will. But not on this day!

By the time I stopped being stubborn and tied a tube back on, i caught that walleye and then it was time to leave. We hated to leave biting fish, but Holmer had to get back to the western ‘burbs to pick up his kids from school.
We drove up there before dark and had only a limited time on the water. Worth it though!

Thanks for watching. More videos with Jason and I will be coming soon. … Can’t guarantee we’ll sing ever time though! LOL.
