Taking my son up to Mille Lacs this weekend.I see a bunch of small lakes within a stones through. Are there any locals that would know which ones are good for bass / panfish? We only have 2 days on the water so I need a backup plan in case the wind comes up.. Any info would be great.

Try Platte & Sullivan just west a few miles, great bass lakes

Long Lake North of Glen off HWY 47 is a good bass lake.

Farm Island has it all..bass walleye etc.

Wind should be fine on the big lake this weekend though…according to wind forecasts. Elm Island has been good for blue gills lately(nice size).

I’ll second Farm islnd, add a couple. Sugar over by Glen is a great Bass lake. And Cedar closer to Aitkin is a very interesting lake, many small bays and narrows making it a good lake on a windy day.

Report back! I’m interested to hear what you find out.

I’ll second Cedar Lake. Plenty of places to get out of the wind if that is a concern and great for largemouth and rock bass.
