Do you guys do much jigging on Mille Lacs? Last year was my first year fishing the big lake. I did very well on the mud flats rigging, but am a true lover of jig fishing. What info can you give me on the jig bite for this lake. Thanks in advance!!

Great topic.. I jig on Mille lacs quite a bit. Its a lost art but can be extremely effective. I will be talking about Mille lacs jig fishing in the up coming issue of the Mille lacs Digest.

Gander usually has hundreds of copies laying around the store for free, at the Minnetonka store always did.

You can usually pick it up at any of the local stores around Mille Lacs too.

I grew up fishing jigs on Mille Lacs. Back in the mid 60’s it was a jig and minnow combo that caught the walleye on Mille Lacs. In the early 70’s came the leech! Once the lindy rig and leech combo became a hit, the jig/minnow has been a lost art.

I fish a small jig on my bobber rigs when the lake has some chop. It allows you to keep your leech in the strike zone.

I fish jigs in the early summer for smallmouth. It’s a great presentation with a plastic twister tail attached. I had some great success last summer fishing jigs from

B-Fish-N tackle with either a ringworm or k-grub hooked on!

I think they would have had more people if the weather was nicer. I did not stay very long.
